About Me
Abby McNeil, LCSW, LICSW, ACHP-SW
Managing the impact of serious illness, grief and bereavement is a unique emotional journey for each person. I believe expressing our deepest emotions can pave the way for restorative healing amid challenges imposed by disease and the death of someone we love.
This journey allows us to reclaim our sense of self and learn how to navigate life with serious illness and loss.
My goal is to foster a compassionate, safe, and supportive environment where difficult conversations can take place. Many of my clients are adjusting to serious illness, grief, loss, anxiety, depression, or experiencing both compassion fatigue and the exhaustion of caregiving. I trust in your inherent capacity to heal and to reconnect with your strength, autonomy, and self-identity.
With ten years of experience in Palliative Medicine, I've assisted individuals living with serious illnesses, those facing end-of-life situations, caregivers tending to their loved ones, and people coping with grief, as well as stress, anxiety, and depression. I offer holistic, relational, and strengths-based strategies in both individual and group settings. I tailor my therapeutic approach to suit your evolving needs, empowering you to confront your challenges with increased understanding and resilience.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, receiving my Master of Social Work from the University of Washington. I was honored to be a Carol LaMare Palliative Care and Oncology Social Work Fellow. I hold advanced certifications in Hospice and Palliative Care Social Work from the National Association of Social Workers and in Oncology Social Work from the Association of Oncology Social Workers. I have worked in oncology and palliative care, where I have developed a passion for supporting individuals living with life-limiting illnesses and the people who love them. In addition to my experience in end-of-life care, I have over a decade of experience providing support to individuals living with complex and chronic behavioral health needs and serious mental illness.
Supporting clients during significant periods of their lives, ensuring they feel seen and supported, is not only a privilege but also what calls me to this important work. To accommodate your comfort and preferences, I provide services both virtually and in-person at your preferred location.
